Hainan · wind all year

Where we kite

Summer brings thermal sea breezes, winter the north-east monsoon. We don't tie you to one beach: we go where the wind is that day, and can arrange overnight trips around the island.

Wenchang

Mar–Jul · Oct–Mar

About an hour north of Bo'ao. Not a tourist area, so the beaches are empty and there's room for everyone.

Hainan's capital has three or four spots. Mostly choppy water, and a little cooler than the south.

Sanya

Jul–Sep · Oct–Feb

China's biggest beach resort, with two good spots in very different conditions.

On the west coast, with strong thermal wind all summer. Our backup when nowhere else has wind.

Getting here

Fly straight to Bo'ao

Bo'ao now has its own airport, Qionghai Bo'ao International (BAR), with direct flights from Beijing, Shanghai and other cities in mainland China. It's about 30 minutes by car from the beach. You can also fly into Haikou Meilan or Sanya Phoenix and take the high-speed train to Bo'ao, about an hour from either. Tell us your flight and we'll arrange your pickup.
