The Bright Connection
In January 2012 we found a project in Sanya that deserves far more attention. In 2004 John and Maggie from America opened a centre for children with disabilities such as autism and cerebral palsy, funding it themselves with help from friends and local businesses.
What began in a three-storey villa grew into a home for more than 30 children in a five-storey building, with over 15 staff and a dedicated exercise and massage programme. Many of the children came from local government orphanages.
“Our purpose is to help handicapped children in China to have another place where they can feel at home, have fun and also progress physically and mentally from whatever point they come to us.”
This is personal for us. Our team worked and volunteered at The Bright Connection for more than six months, and we still help them raise funds today.
